Dr. Monica Vejar

Dr. Monica Vejar is a compassionate clinician at the AToN Center, dedicated to helping clients through an empathetic, therapeutic approach. She completed her undergraduate degree at UCLA, majoring in psychology with a minor in disability studies. Dr. Vejar then went on to earn her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (PsyD) from Loma Linda University with an emphasis in whole person care. Dr. Vejar thrives working in a collaborative team environment, and has specific training within interdisciplinary settings.

Throughout Dr. Vejar’s career, a primary focus has been addressing a wide range of mental health issues such as trauma, anxiety, and depression. Dr. Vejar utilizes evidence-based techniques to empower clients in managing their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors effectively. Dr. Vejar uses modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and psychodynamic frameworks to individualize treatment for each resident. Dr. Vejar enjoys addressing anxiety through exposure therapy, is trained in EMDR, and values working within a trauma-informed framework. With prior experience working in settings such as: primary care, community mental health, psychiatric inpatient hospitals, private practice, and specialty medical clinics, Dr. Vejar is able to prioritize individualized treatment goals for AToN residents.

Central to Dr. Vejar’s approach is the therapeutic relationship, which serves as a cornerstone for fostering positive behavioral change and emotional well-being. By creating a safe and empathetic environment, Dr. Vejar collaborates closely with clients to explore challenges, set meaningful goals, and achieve sustainable growth.
